«Man and Time»

A black cloud circles over the world
black like me
A rabid dog by the door beneath barks at night
rabid like me

A snake slithers along the hanging road
a snake like me
People gone crackers pass along trails
crackers like me

Whores sway on corners of streets
sway like me
Beggars howl like animals in caves
in caves like me

Monkeys jump in forests and jungles
monkeyishly like me
The insane world lives amidst dances and bullets
insane like me

Terrified is man at the birth of the superhuman
terrified me, too
At the death of the superhuman the unfortunate take heart
I take heart, too

«Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep»

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
