i opened my window today
inviting the mild weather outside
the clean crisp air
and the rarified rays of sun
they all came rushing in
and in with them sneaked
the wily cold with its bony fingers
touching me all over
like drops of frigid water
escaping from the frozen grip
of icicles on fringes of canopies
then
i remembered your hands
and the warmth they had
i remembered your lips
and the air they breathed
i remembered your eyes
and the heart they killed
and i was warm again
