A Lesser Occupation

The United States army is pulling 23,000 troops out of Iraq by the end of this month, bringing the total number of American troops there to 120,000.

I have no numbers and do not have time to search for them, but I will venture to guess this is the largest presence of U.S. troops anywhere in the world. Similarly, I have no doubt that what we did for a long time in Iraq fell under the definition of an occupation. I am, therefore, glad to see it nearing its end.
